How to Fix a Cold Radiator at Home

A radiator that stays cold while the heating is on usually means something is off in the system, not that the radiator itself has simply stopped working. Try turning the valve fully up first. If nothing changes, remove the thermostatic head if it is the type that can be unscrewed by hand. Underneath, you will usually see a small metal pin. Balancing is the process of making sure all radiators receive the right share of hot water. Without it, some radiators heat very quickly while others stay lukewarm or cold.

If the radiator is cold at the bottom
